The Heriz Garnet is a warm, earthy piece, with deep garnet red contrasting the midnight blue and ivory of the background in a subtle but grounded manner. The strong central medallion is the center of attention, with ornate florals and geometric designs emerging slowly out of the field and border areas. The colors have intensity, but at the same time, they carry an air of refinement owing to the softness of the handspun wool fibers and the use of age-old natural dye techniques.
Drawing inspiration from the strength and beauty of traditional Heriz carpets, this rug combines a bold architectural structure with ornate design elements for elegance and depth. Six and a half months were required to hand-knot this rug in Kabul, Afghanistan, using handspun wool fibers that had been dyed with natural dyes.
This rug would be perfect for interior design styles that emphasize dark wood furnishings, antique brass accents, and layers of linen.
