Mamluk Azure stands out for its bright turquoise background, which is slightly blurred through touches of old minerals, garnets, and sand colors. The geometry is precise and elegant; there are overlapping medallions and elaborate borders. They create an impression of a harmonious symmetry, giving the carpet both structure and rhythm. The color scheme seems to have acquired patina, as if influenced by light and time, rather than contrast.
Based on the rich traditions of Mamluk style, the carpet embodies the harmony and decorations specific for historical court rugs but interpreted in a less ornate manner. It was manually knotted for four and a half months in Andkhoy, Afghanistan, and made of manually spun wool with natural dyes.
Being rather small, it will look perfect in any interior, especially when laid on natural materials or dark wooden surfaces.
